January 22, 2019. ToNeTo Atlanta – Chamblee Plaza, the aging shopping center on Peachtree Boulevard, may soon see new tenants including TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, Five Below, and Rack Room Shoes.
In the wake of the Great Recession, business development in Chamblee has picked up, and the onset of activity is bolstering the city’s entrepreneurial spirit.
“It’s exciting. We’re in a development cycle, and it’s a good problem to have,” said Adam Causey, the city’s economic development manager.
Major recent and still-unfolding developments – several of them ambitious mixed-use projects – in Chamblee include:
WEST COLFAX — The re-imagination of the West Colfax corridor is steadily taking root as the SLOANS development, former home to Saint Anthony’s, is rapidly sprouting up and shooting its roots into the once thriving, then derelict, now reviving West Colfax.
MARTA on Thursday selected the partners who will transform 15 acres of unused parking space near Brookhaven station into a huge development boasting a park, apartments, hotel, shopping, office space, condos and senior independent living, among other amenities.
A second partnership to build a mixture of offices and retail on a smaller, 2.14-acre parcel at Chamblee station also was approved Thursday by the MARTA board.
